Can I have a little more direction here? You don't want me in the kitchen. That's absolutely fine with me. But where am I supposed to go? The parlor? The pantry? The basement? Outside to smoke a butt?

If you really don't want me in the kitchen, if you're that much in control of the place, fine. Swelter in the kitchen, but please have the genteel courtesy to direct me to a waiting area as you cast me out.

Give me a space to enjoy myself before I get the chance to later comment on the food you fretted over.
